Fighting off insanity

In the days since my last Deadlock post where I complained a bunch, I started playing more Bots matches, which made playing actual matches feel less like drowning and more like swimming against a very strong current. Once you get used to the games phases you can start anticipating enemy moves and come up with some kind of plan.

I have discovered the clock battery in my gamecube is no longer working, and because it soldered directly to the console I will have to do some game console modding in order to play Animal Crossing properly. I want to play the old version because I find the game's lack of "quality of life" to be appealing. In newer versions the game tasks you with being the town mayor and for the switch version you can just reshape the entire island in your image. I just want to fish at twilight off the town dock.

The last two weeks of news has made me feel insane. To be honest I have been contemplating leaving the country, and it seems like the only practical way to do this is to have a ton of money and give it to a country of your choice, at which point they'll let you stay, but then you need an apartment and a job. The global job market is terrible and especially in games. Some freedom of movement we got here.

I have been not trying to overcome burnout but I can't really find any sort of resources on it. Like you can't google for things anymore. Burnout is such a popular subject for SEO because everyone is going through it and it's tied directly to productivity and therefore making someone else money.

Bluesky is, and remains, a vortex of screaming. I feel like Social Media as an idea ran its course about 10 years ago, or with the demise of Cohost. Everyone is going to be hypnotized by short form video from now on.

The other night I got into a conversation with someone who asked if I used AI. I said I was opposed to it on the grounds that it's mostly useless, and it replaces the jobs that I want to do (writing, illustration, coding) and didn't even go into the fact that it's trained on stolen data and uses a bunch of computing power. Really content with being left behind if everyone else is edging out more productivy with AI. It's like I know how a Mechanical Turk works but nobody belives you when you tell them there's actually a guy in there. I have had multiple conversations like this and I can't convince anyone otherwise, i don't think it can be done until the crash happens.
